Connect to Context7 MCP to fetch up-to-date, version-specific library documentation and code examples directly from the source.

Context7 MCP connector

  1. Terminal window

  2. Add your Scalekit credentials to your .env file. Find values in app.scalekit.com > Developers > API Credentials.

  3. Register your Context7 MCP credentials with Scalekit so it can authenticate requests on your behalf. You do this once per environment.

    Dashboard setup steps

    Register your Context7 API key with Scalekit so it can authenticate and proxy documentation requests on behalf of your users. Context7 MCP uses API key authentication — there is no redirect URI or OAuth flow.

    1. Get a Context7 API key

      • Go to context7.com and sign in to your account.
      • Navigate to the API Keys section in the dashboard.
      • Click Create API Key… and give it a name (e.g. Agent Auth).
      • Copy the generated key — it starts with ctx7sk-.

    2. Create a connection in Scalekit

      • In the Scalekit dashboard, go to AgentKitConnectionsCreate Connection.
      • Search for Context7 MCP and click Create.
      • Note the Connection name — use this as connection_name in your code (e.g., context7mcp).
    3. Add a connected account

      Connected accounts link a specific user identifier in your system to a Context7 API key. Add them via the dashboard for testing, or via the Scalekit API in production.

      Via dashboard (for testing)

      • Open the connection and click the Connected Accounts tab → Add account.
      • Fill in Your User’s ID and API Key, then click Save.

Connect this agent connector to let your agent:

  • Query docs — Retrieves and queries up-to-date documentation and code examples from Context7 for any programming library or framework

You MUST call this function before 'Query Documentation' tool to obtain a valid Context7-compatible library ID UNLESS the user explicitly provides a library ID in the format '/org/project' or '/org/project/version' in their query. Each result includes: - Library ID: Context7-compatible identifier (format: /org/project) - Name: Library or package name - Description: Short summary - Code Snippets: Number of available code examples - Source Reputation: Authority indicator (High, Medium, Low, or Unknown) - Benchmark Score: Quality indicator (100 is the highest score) - Versions: List of versions if available. Use one of those versions if the user provides a version in their query. The format of the version is /org/project/version. For best results, select libraries based on name match, source reputation, snippet coverage, benchmark score, and relevance to your use case. Selection Process: 1. Analyze the query to understand what library/package the user is looking for 2.
